Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Gonzales-Collins works as an Mexican-American sportscaster. She's an ESPN anchor for news and also hosts SportsNation occasionally. She joined ESPN in 2016. She is the daughter of the TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her ability was crucial in helping her land her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she was a producer of shows like Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. In 2009, the CBS affiliate located in St. Petersburg hired her after this as a sports reporter. She worked as a journalist for KNVO TV 48 Univision in Rio Grande Valley Texas. Reporters covered issues related to the issue of immigration and trafficking drugs within both Texas as well as Mexico. Also, she was often requested to substitute for a sports and weather anchor. In the following, she anchored and also reported to Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was given more responsibilities. They moved into Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born in November 1985. She is older than her sister. The family relocated to Miami in 1992, after having left Mexico. They divorced soon afterwards and in 1995, she got married to a naval designer named Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo was diagnosed with kidney cancer. It was during a summer vacation that she stayed together with her sister and her sister in Canton Ohio where the older Collins girl had secured an employment. Antonietta was a senior high school student and was certain of her career goals. She went to Mount Union University to see if it was a good fit for her. She discovered that she loved the campus as well as the fact that it offered the major she wanted. When she completed her high school studies, she entered the University to pursue media studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her instructor Mark Bergmann who was the supervisor of WRMU 91.1 FM, of which she was a member. Professor Bergmann was a great influence on her by his passion for journalism. Additionally, he profoundly influenced her.
